Washington's 5th District

An Economy
That Works

Eastern Washington families are working hard, but too many feel like they're falling behind on housing, wages, and childcare. An economy that works for everyone means stability, opportunity, and dignity for the people who power our communities.

Affordable Housing

Housing costs in Eastern Washington have outpaced incomes for years. The root cause is simple: we're not building enough. I'll work to cut permitting delays, lower construction costs, and modernize land use rules so more families can afford a home.

Incomes That Support Families

Hard work should pay off. I'll work to expand family-wage jobs, back local businesses, and invest in the industries Eastern Washington already does well: agriculture, healthcare, skilled trades, and clean energy. Opportunity shouldn't require leaving home to find it.

Child & Elder Care for Working Families

Across Eastern Washington, quality care is too expensive and too hard to find. Federal grants, tax credits, and better pay for care workers can change that. Families shouldn't have to choose between their job and the people they love.

Access to a Secure Retirement

After a lifetime of work, people deserve security, not stress. I'll work to protect Social Security and Medicare, and ensure seniors aren't forced to choose between prescriptions and groceries. Retirement should be something to look forward to.

A National Health Policy
That Puts Patients First

Healthcare isn't theoretical to me; it has been my life's work, from military medical facilities to civilian hospitals across the region. I've seen what works, and what doesn't.

Medicare for All Who Want It

Every American deserves access to reliable, affordable health coverage. If you like your private insurance, keep it. But if you don't have good options, you should be able to buy into Medicare, regardless of age. More choice, not less.

A Focus on Prevention

The smartest healthcare systems prevent illness before it starts. Investing in primary care, mental health, and community prevention saves lives and cuts long-term costs. That's not just good medicine, it's good fiscal policy.

Investment in Research

Medical breakthroughs don't happen by accident. We must protect and grow funding for evidence-based research that drives better treatments and longer lives. Cutting science funding is a false economy.

Sustainable Rural & Urban Hospitals

Rural hospitals are lifelines, and too many in Eastern Washington operate on razor-thin margins. When a hospital closes, it takes jobs, emergency response capacity, and community stability with it. We need policies that keep both rural and urban hospitals financially viable.

Supporting Agriculture
and Rural Communities

Agriculture isn't just an industry in Eastern Washington; it's a way of life, and our farmers deserve policies that provide stability, not uncertainty. Strong agriculture means strong rural communities.

The Next Generation of Farmers

The average American farmer is getting older, and the path in for young people is too hard. I'll work to expand Beginning Farm loans, lower barriers for new producers, and invest in agricultural education — so this work continues.

Stable Policy, Strong Farms

Family farms can't absorb constant chaos — from unpredictable tariffs to shifting trade deals to rising input costs. I'll work for consistent crop insurance, reliable labor access, and long-term trade agreements that keep Eastern Washington's wheat, apples, cherries, and lentils competitive on global markets.

Investment in Crop & Climate Research

Farmers are already adapting to changing conditions — they need research that keeps pace. I'll protect and grow funding for WSU and federal programs that drive innovation in crop science, soil health, and climate resilience.

Responsible Water Stewardship

In Eastern Washington, water isn't just a resource — it's the foundation of everything. I'll support irrigation infrastructure, conservation practices, and water policy built on science and local input, including from tribal communities.

Protecting Our Rights
and Ensuring Safety

The first responsibility of government is to protect the rights and safety of its people by upholding the Constitution. I swore that oath at 23 years old, and it now calls me to serve as your representative in Congress.

A Legal and Humane Immigration Policy

We are a nation of laws and a nation built by immigrants. We need a secure, orderly border and a system that treats people with dignity. That means enforcement at the border, not in our neighborhoods, and a clear path to citizenship for people who already live, work, and pay taxes here.

A Capable Military for Defense, Not Offense

As a former Air Force Colonel, I know what a ready military looks like. Our armed forces exist to defend the nation, deter aggression, and protect our allies. Strength requires readiness and accountability, not endless conflict.

Robust Oversight of the Executive Branch

No one is above the law. Congress has a constitutional duty to provide oversight and hold any administration accountable, regardless of party. That's not a partisan position. It's the job.

Ensuring Congress Does Its Duty

Congress was built to legislate, not to perform. I'll show up, do the work, and put Eastern Washington's needs ahead of party leadership and special interests. This district deserves a representative who takes the job seriously.
